Structured academic writing…

…is essentially a simple “math” problem. First, you need a claim (formerly known as a thesis statement). Then, you need to have evidence from whatever text you’ve researched or read based on the topic at hand. Then, you need to add commentary that supports why the evidence you have provided proves your claim. Essentially, if your commentary is weak, you’re telling your educator that you have no idea what you’re talking about (FYI). Always remember this simple little lesson/review.
